MEMBERSHIP

Membership is open to any person, male or female, who is descendant of a Manakin Huguenot Colony Founder. For a list of qualifying ancestors, see HSFMCV. Also included as ancestors are Huguenot immigrant residents of Virginia prior to 1786. Children from birth to age 21 can also be members. There is a reduced fee for children and no annual dues until their 21st birthday.

WHERE TO BEGIN

You will need to start with your generation your record of birth, and if married provide spouse's birth certificate and your record of marriage. For generations 2 and 3, you need birth and death certificates for both parents and grandparents, if applicable. From that generation, you need to be able to supply or document with census records or wills and deeds naming the heirs in your line of descent. Many of the French Huguenot families of Virginia have books published about their families. If the book documents sources, in most cases, these can be used. You may want to check documentation of other lineage societies to find needed documents.

Assistance is available to complete the application! All previously accepted applications can be used for connecting the generations. The Kentucky Branch Registrar can obtain a previously approved application for you from the National Headquarters in Midlothian, Virginia, if one is not available at the Branch level. The application will need to be signed by sponsors, the Branch President and Registrar prior to submission.

For a membership application, contact the Kentucky Branch Registrar.
